It is finally here!!! Openbox 3.4 was just released, together with a fresh version of ObConf 2.0!!! I believe this is the first time I’ve avidly followed the development and release of an application, and I’m very proud of the work the entire Openbox Crew has put together! Read the official announcement here.
Packages and source code can be found here. If you’re running Foresight Linux, you can get the new versions by running:
sudo conary update openbox obconf
Use Openbox and really discover the meaning of the word fast!

Hi Og,
After seeing your previous post about Openbox, I decided to give it a try. I am running Ubuntu Fiesty with KDE over gdm (since kdm had some problem of not shutting down). I installed openbox, along with docker, obconf, openbox-themes and pypanel, using ‘sudo apt-get install openbox…’.
When I logged out and tried login into Openbox (selecting openbox in the session list), it doesn’t get in. I just get the Ubuntu’s brown background which appears behind the login screen. I do not have ‘GNOME/Openbox’ or ‘KDE/Openbox’ entries in the sessions list.
Any idea or tip to get Openbox working ?
@technofreak, the problem is that Openbox 3.4 is not available for Feisty via apt-get yet. Try installing the package found here: http://icculus.org/openbox/releases/openbox_3.4.0-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
One thing I recommend you to read is the documentation on how to use the autostart.sh script file to start pypanel, for instance, automatically together with Openbox.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Cheers,
Og
